This poster is an estate sale find. I don't know anything about the provenance of it.
If you know anything about this poster, I'd love to hear from you. I DO believe this official merch, or an authorized run of prints, because the image quality is outstanding, as is the print quality. This is not a cheap-o mass produced record store poster. It's on heavy stock, and you can easily feel the ink if you run your finger across the print, similar to high quality concert posters. However, I sort of doubt it was screen printed like most concert posters, given the complexity of the halftone design. I'm not a poster expert, or even a collector really (I don't like looking after them all night at shows) Again, if you recognize this POSTER (I know its been on shirts) and have some info of when it was offered, through where, whether it may have been part of one Grateful Dead Event or another (maybe as a part of their support for the US Ski team, or related to the release of the K2 skis around the same time), I'd love to hear from you! Grateful Dead themed Skeleton Skiing poster. There's a Steal Your Face on the Mountains above as well as on the skis, there's also the lightning bolt on the the gloves.
And of course, the skeleton and roses is classic Grateful Dead Iconography. Unsure of the printing method, screening seems unlikely given the halftone design, but you can feel the ink. High quality image and print. Appears to have been stored flat, never rolled.
The artist signature appears to say "Ring". I was unable to dig up anything on this artist.
There is some storage wear, mostly near the edges. A few knicks along the very edge. The bottom left corner is bent but it's very very tiny. There is a small amount of curling of maybe the top right 10-15% of the poster. There's about a 1/4 between that corner and the table when laid flat. Most of this is documented in the photos, though there may be a bit of similar wear that isn't pictured. I do know most, if not all, of this wear will be imperceptible once framed and matted. It'll look awesome, and as far as I can tell, this is an exceedingly rare piece of Grateful Dead Memorabilia.
