Grateful Dead - Mars Hotel - Signed by Alton Kelley - 1974 Promotional Poster - Good Condition. Here is The Grateful Dead's "Mars Hotel" promotional poster from 1974. Featuring the album art designed by Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley, it is signed by Alton Kelley in black ink, lower half by the back edge of the TV. This artist signature ads to the rarity of this particular poster, especially since it's signed by Kelley. I collect posters, not grade them, so this is not an official grading. I took pictures both with light on to show reflection and light off for minimal reflection. The poster measures 23" x 51".

The partially illegible text underneath the title reads, "Ugly Rumors, " if turned upside down and mirrored. This was originally the working title for the album-a reference to their time staying at the Mars Hotel. According to Phil Lesh, "It was originally supposed to be'Ugly Roomers,' a self-deprecating dig at ourselves, but we changed it to'rumors' out of respect to the boarders at the hotel".
