Offered here is an original, vintage Fd26 poster, regarded as one of the most important posters ever produced. This example is known as PP-5 in Eric Kings guide. It is widely believed that ben Friedman who owned the Postermat shop in San Francisco printed these shortly after the first printing in 1966. This printing predates the second printing making this version chronologically the second time this poster was ever printed. This poster is nearly identical to the first printing with the main difference being the omission of the Bindweeed and Mouse studio credits in the lower margin.
A note of interest is that this printing is on much heavier and nicer paper than any of the official printings. This poster is in remarkably near mint condition and has not received any restoration of any kind. The paper is bright, edges crisp and the colors as bright as the day this poster was printed 52 years ago. This particular printing is impossibly rare, in my 30 years of collecting I have only ever come across 4 or 5 and this one is by far the nicest example.
Of all the 60's variations, official and bootleg this is the toughest to find in high grade. If you can't afford a minty first or second printing who can? This is the next best thing. Poster will be mailed in a heavy weight tube. The iPhone photos make the poster look yellowish.
In person it is bright white and super clean. The item "Mint FD26 Grateful Dead poster Signed STANLEY MOUSE 1966 bg AOR Avalon" is in sale since Tuesday, May 1, 2018.
