Grateful Dead Sons of Champlin Avalon Aoxomoxoa Concert Poster 1982 3rd printing. This is the official artist-issued 3rd (1982 Jose's Late-Night Final) printing 21&7/8 x 27 concert poster for the Grateful Dead appearing with the Sons of Champlin and Initial Shock at the Avalon Ballroom In San Francisco, CA from 1/24-26/1969. Considered by many to be one of the greatest rock posters of all time, this classic Rick Griffin design is known as "Aoxomoxoa, " and was used as the title and cover design for the Grateful Dead's third album.

After the Family Dog left the Avalon Ballroom, Soundproof Productions became the first company to produce rock shows there. This poster was used to promote the very first Soundproof show in January 1969.

Griffin's artistic genius shines brightly in this poster from the incredible lettering to the sexual symbology. Fun fact: If you cover the lower two-thirds portion of the name "Grateful Dead, " the very top third spells out "We Ate The Acid, ". The third print poster, this item for sale, was printed on thick white stock, and measures approximately 21¾?

This printing is commonly known as "Jose's late night printing, " and was printed by Jose Kent. Art by Rick Griffin, image ("Aoxoamoxoa") is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 109 (plate 2.24) and is part of the Soundproof Presents series.
