Skeleton and Roses Poster History Fun Fact. In 1966 Kelley and Mouse were in the San Francisco public library looking for inspiration for a poster they were doing for the Grateful Dead. They stumbled upon an illustration in the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, a twelfth-century Arabian work of poetry. Kelley said, Is that the Grateful Dead or is that the Grateful Dead!
Mouse responded, thats got Grateful Dead written all over it! And so that was how the Skeleton and Roses image became cemented into rock and roll history like very few images before it. It because a symbol of a generation and began the Mouse and Kelley graphic legacy. Fun Fact Courtesy mousestudios dot com.
