ORIGINAL 1967 GRATEFUL DEAD DEBUT 1ST LP PROMOTIONAL HANDBILL BY RICK GRIFFIN. This is a very rare original promotional handbill designed by the legendary artist Rick Griffin to promote the release of the Grateful Dead's very first LP in 1967. More than 20 years ago I acquired a small quantity of this item along with a cream colored variation. #1 - This one is MINT that I have been saving for my collection but have decided to now offer. It was the best printed one of the entire lot that I acquired! #2 - The second one has two very minor printing flaws (two very small spots that didn't take the green ink as these were printed on a very unusual textured stock). #3 and #4 - The third and fourth copies both had the image (which was printed in black on the green textured stock) printed off center so the borders, which are even on the perfect ones, are not on those two handbills.

On the better of those two (#3) the very bottom of the scarab is cut off and the two printed credits are cut off and the top green border is almost 1/2 inch larger than normal. On the last one (#4) the bottom inch of the image is cut off and the top green border is 1 inch larger than normal. Both of these handbills a on the full 8 1/2 x 11 inch size green textured card stock but the images were printed off center.
