Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service, John Mayall, It's a Beautiful Day. A great lineup and a great gig. For some reason, there always seem to be detailed reviews and personal accounts online of Texas 60s and 70s rock concerts. The Dead headed to Austin for the next night's gig. Our photos make this handbill look dull gray.

In fact it's a pleasant light blue with magenta printing. It matches the accompanying poster, which is almost impossible to obtain.

A similar handbill, but with a different arrangement of lettering and design was used for the concert the night before in San Antonio. It could be flattened out in minutes without resorting to a paper conservator. Otherwise, it's dead, stone mint. In the coming months, we will be liquidating a large portion of a very large collection of rock-and-roll posters, handbills, cards, tickets, signed items and other memorabilia from the mid-60s to the mid-70s.
