This is an original handbill to promote the Family Dog's August 19-20, 1966 show at San Francisco's Avalon Ballroom, and has the catalog number FD-22. This concert featured legendary jam band the Grateful Dead, with minor psychedelic band Sopwith Camel opening. The poster was designed yet again by Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelly, and features Boris Karloff's version of Frankenstein's Monster as its main image. Interestingly, Mouse & Kelly apparently did not use a dictionary when designing the poster, as the poster advertises the "Greatful" Dead.

The handbill is about the size of a normal piece of A4 paper, roughly 8 inches by 11 inches. This handbill has been in storage for nearly 50 years and is in top-notch, near mint, excellent condition. Other than a bit of imperceptibly slight discoloration along the lower right edge and a very very small fold on the lower left corner, there are no other folds, rips, tears, holes, stray marks, doodles, blotches, or other blemishes. The ink has not faded, and the paper still looks good, in an attractive shade of yellow. It is as close to mint condition as you are likely to find.
