First printing, with the full 14 3/8-inch width (the second printing has only 14 inches), conceived by Rick Griffin, one of the Big Five along with psychedelic poster artists Wes Wilson, Alton Kelley, Stanley Mouse and Victor Moscoso. Gigs were Friday through Sunday March 24-26, 1967 and featured performances by The Grateful Dead, Quick Silver [sic] Messenger Service and John Hammond and His Screaming Nighthawks. Despite the condition issues, all limited to the the corners, the poster presents itself exceedingly well.
Beginning clockwise from the top left hand corner, there is a solitary pinhole and paper loss from a tape pull. Moving on to the upper right hand corner, there is clear tape, now exhibiting toning, plus perhaps two pinholes. Now on to the lower right hand corner, there is paper loss from a tape pull, easy to see from the contrast of more white against the rest of the poster's moderately toned index stock, and. The lower left hand corner has a tape pull with loss of paper similar to the lower right hand corner. No tears in the borders. All of this is highlighted in the photographs for this listing.Nota bene: The little doohickeys you can see in the corners are neodymium magnets I pulled from an old iMac to keep the print flat for photographing. I'm at the ready for your questions. Has always been stored flat. A wise person would put the savings into a mat and proper frame and have a conversation piece lasting generations. Please see the last picture in the photos.
