In an interview in the late 1980s Garcia stated: The record I worked hardest at and liked best was Cats Under the Stars. The album was a turning point for Mouse and Garcia. Garcia broke away from the Grateful Dead and Stanley broke away from Kelly, creating the album art as a solo artist.
