Singer's collages rarely related to the bands or events they advertised. BG227 was a study of forms: the parallel chambers of the nautilus released, or perhaps contained, the stuff of galaxies, and the brightly-defined triangle represented the spiritual.
The pure beauty of the design made BG227 a piece of original art. The concert was another example of Bill Graham serving the fans both what they wanted and what they needed: The Grateful Dead and Miles Davis. This 1st printing poster, measuring 14 x 21, is on semi-glossy paper stock similar to other Fillmore posters in the 1970s. This copy has been signed in silver ink by poster artist David Singer. The top left corner would be considered soft, but the others are crisp otherwise, the poster is in mint condition. This is a very popular poster, especially with such a nice Singer signature. Llectors seeking truly vintage posters there is no other source that can match the breadth and authenticity of the collection at Wolfgang's Vault. To see our other auctions!
