Being offered for sale is an original. As defined in Eric King's The Collectors Guide to Psychedelic Rock Concert Posters.
This is BG 222, designed by Randy Tuten for concert held on February 23, 1970 at the Winterland in San Francisco, featuring Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Santana, It's a Beautiful Day and Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks. Throughout their career the Grateful Dead performed at many benefits. So when the Dead (and many in the entourage, including Owsley Stanley) were arrested on drug possession charges down in New Orleans, these other big San Francisco acts put on a benefit concert for the Grateful Dead. Later this same year the Grateful Dead released'Truckin', and this piece of history "busted, down in New Orleans" was heard around the world.Poster is 13-3/4" x 20-7/8" and is in Very Good condition with some restoration done by Chameleon Restoration in NY. The paper stock of this poster makes it very susceptible to damage, and very difficult to repair, so please view all photos and see for yourself how well this poster shows!
The art is striking and a must for any serious collector. This is a rare collectible poster and the market for these rarities continue to gain tremendous attention over the last couple of years (and just getting started).
