AJ Masthay Grateful Dead Furthur Chicago 2012 Original Artwork, Block & Poster
Offered for sale is a one-of-a-kind grouping - signed original artwork, original carved linoleum block and a signed and numbered poster for Furthur's 7/7/2012 concert in Chicago. Obviously, you won't see this anywhere else. I recently downsized my home and sadly no longer have the space to properly display these glorious pieces. The process (from AJ's website): It all starts with a pastel/charcoal sketch where the composition and color placement is all planned out. Once the sketch is complete it is transferred onto a blank linoleum plate, literally running the pastel drawing through the press onto the plate, creating the reversed image. Whatever is whittled away at this point will either remain the color of the paper or is left clean to get a true color from another plate. Paper is cut to size and ready to start mixing the ink for printing. The poster is numbered 330/330 the last one!
, remains in mint condition and measures 12" x 23". The original artwork is complete with pencil lines, smudges, etc. And is a great representation of the amount of work and talent! That goes into creating a poster.
It is professionally framed with acid-free double matting, archival hinges and UV-resistant museum glass and measures a large 27" x 36.5". The lino block is big, heavy, and awesome and completes this set beautifully! Thanks for looking and good luck!
