Up for your consideration is an Original Mint condition Acid Test Poster. This is NOT a Handbill. This is only the second one to ever turn up and it would grade an exceptional 9.4-9.6 Mint State. It has only a slight flaw, being a minor crease, not fully bent, in the upper right corner.I obtained this piece from the artist Paul Foster's good friend, many years ago. The only other one I have ever seen was not in very good shape. This poster is 10 13/16" x 13 13/16". Here is the information about this item which is not very well known.
The original large version of this poster measures 17" by 22", and was printed in Dec, 1965. For one of these you would expect to pay at least 12k, and those goldenrods are said to number almost 50 or more. There is a whole stack of these untouched from the original printers and people think this poster is rare.
A white version or blue one, of which there are only half a dozen or so of each, would fetch close to 20k or more these days. This poster being offered here was printed in Oct.
1966 by the artist Paul Foster. He only made a few of these and only 2 are known to have survived. This is the nicer one of the two. This is printed on very thin stock paper, and it has a slight "cream tan" to the paper color. This is guaranteed 100% original. At the same time these were made, a thicker paper version was made and handed out to attendees at the Acid Test Graduation. These are 10 13/16" by 17" and there are approx. 10 or so known to exist. I'm considered to be one of the top, if not the premiere experts on this particular poster. I was responsible for enlightening all of the top experts and dealers that this poster was actually made by Paul Foster when it was the consensus that Norman Hartweg had created it. Lee had a clear memory of it and had his diploma along with the original poster he was given by Paul. Paul had asked Lee to help him hand them out and was given two of them that night. The print time was exactly the same, Oct. 1966 and the size of the actual art itself is exactly the same size as the thicker, larger versions. This would probably be considered a "test print" of an acid test poster. Considering the rarity and condition, I would call it a true and serious acid test collectable. I have set the value of this poster at a very good price, considering the greatly increased value of original psychedelic sixties posters.
This is a top level investment, and sure to increase quite considerably in the future. Acid test memorabilia has the fastest rising value of all rock and roll collectables.
