Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia Lithograph The Blue Iceberg in Pewter Frame
Signed Limited Edition Lithograph (1991). The original art for this print was done by Grateful Dead singer and guitarist in 1986, shortly after coming out of a diabetic coma. It's a beautiful airbrushed image, created using templates, in frosty blue hues. Number 404 in a limited edition of 500, the print measures 24" x 19", and is signed by Garcia and numbered in pencil. This print has been professionally preserved in a beautiful pewter frame that compliments this incredible piece. It has been kept clean, dry and secure since I've had it, and is in excellent condition. This beautiful piece "The Blue Iceberg" has always been special to me for personal reasons. I had just been introduced to the Grateful Dead in the fall of 85', and had no idea how much one concert could change my life, but it happened. I went from being an out of control, inconsiderate, metal head, teenage jerk with terrible grades and problems with the law. Then within a few months from that first experience, I started to become a better person in every way.

I quickly fell in love with everything about the Grateful Dead and realized I was going to do whatever I had to do to experience as much of the Dead Head lifestyle as possible. And just as fast as it all started, it came to a screeching stop when Garcia got sick and went into a diabetic coma.

I was devastated and bummed out thinking something I just found and loved, was over so soon. When Jerry came out of the coma, this is the first art he created. And as the story goes, he had to relearn to play guitar and find where he left off before the coma. This painting, since it was his first creative work after his sickness, has always been special to me. It marked the return of the man who could make thousands of people smile uncontrollably all at the same time. To those who know what I'm talking about, you're lucky. Because you know how special it was to see Jerry Garcia play. There are so many fans from so many different generations, and many never had the opportunity to experience how special it was, to be present while Jerry played. Take advantage of this opportunity to own and enjoy the artwork of Jerry Garcia while you can! I bought this piece of art at the Hard Rock in Atlantic City in February of 2010, the morning after Furthur played at the Taj Mahal.

I'm not a very fancy decorator and even though the Blue Iceberg has special meaning to me, I think I must have been wasted. I think it'd be better off in a nice place where it can hang on the wall and be enjoyed. I've had this hidden in my closet for most of the time I owned it because I live in the boonies and have had my place broken into a few times. I feared if it was on the wall, it might end up stolen.

I only want to do this once. I'll do my best to provide any info you'd like. Thank you for looking, and showing an interest in this special listing.
